Afghanistan Legal & Social Development Organization (ALSDO)
Empower One, Empower All

Since 1994, ALSDO has transformed compassion into concrete action—delivering food to drought-hit villages, training teachers in Kabul’s public schools, and championing women-led cooperatives across Afghanistan.

Who we are

ALSDO is an independent, non-political humanitarian and development organization registered with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Economy on 8 February 2006. Yet our roots reach back to 1994, when a small circle of Afghan professionals first began delivering legal awareness sessions to displaced families in Peshawar. Today, ALSDO operates in all 34 provinces through five dedicated departments—Programs, HR & Administration, Finance, Procurement, and Monitoring & Evaluation—guided by a seasoned Board of Directors and more than 100 staff members across Kabul and the regions.

What we do

Since 1994, ALSDO has positively impacted countless lives by responding to community needs through education, legal aid, and social development projects, enabling citizens to reclaim their rights and improve their livelihoods.

Humanitarian Assistance

In Kabul’s Kohdaman zone, ALSDO pairs biometric beneficiary registration with community Food Assistance Committees to ensure transparent, needs-based food or cash transfers—often reaching households lacking formal IDs.

Teacher Capacity Building

Three-day intensive workshops, peer-mentoring clusters and gender-balanced participation are restoring confidence and quality to public classrooms.

Legal Empowerment and Mediation

From mosque courtyards to village shuras, our legal trainers demystify Afghan family law, while trained elders mediate land or inheritance disputes—reducing case backlogs and strengthening social cohesion.

Women-Led Livelihoods

Micro-grants, dairy-processing equipment and marketing coaching are enabling cooperatives like Zarifa’s to supply local markets and grow household incomes.
